Over the course of history , numerous sports have been invented and played by many civilizations, eras and ages but still today only one sports is the most relevant which is not only played by whole world but watched by over 4 billion people annually but also holds the most popularity , entertainment , capital among all other fields which clearly sets football apart from all other sports. It also holds the most prominence in Social media , Electronic Media etc.
Among the history of Football of more than a century many prominent and great footballers have embraced the game and become legends of the game due to their extraordinary skills and records ,For example Pele, Diego Maradona ,Cristiano Ronaldo ,Zidane, Iniesta etc . But one player who has been more significant and apart from these players is Lionel Andres Messi , undoubtedly the greatest player to grace this beautiful game . He is one of the talents that are born only once in an eternity . He is the best thing that ever happened to not only Fc Barcelona ( The football club in which Messi plays) but also to football . He is praised by every legend of not only football but every sports .
To know how he acquired the title of "GREATEST EVER" we have to dig deep into his career.
1. EARLY LIFE AND CAREER IN FC BARCELONA
Born on June 24 1987 in Rosario, Argentina, As a young child he was diagnosed with a disease called growth hormone deficiency which restricted his body ability to grow height . This disease treatment was pretty expensive but FC barcelona considering his crazy football skills agreed to pay for his treatment . He and his family moved to Spain for his treatment and also that he can play further in FC Barcelona after his successful treatment . After that he had his treatment done successfully and started playing at junior level in Fc Barcelona and thats where the it all started started shining in his early days because of his remarkable and miraculous skills and talent. He quickly rose through the youth ranks to the very top and made it to first team at a very young age.He debuted in 2004 and quickly became the part of playing 11 . His performance contributed heavily in UEFA champions league which led to FC barcelona lifting their first UCL in this century . Messi better version came in 2008-09 in which under the super Intelligent coach Pep Guardiola he caused havoc in opponent teams and was truly unstoppable by scoring 38 goals in all competition and led Fc Barcelona to their First treble ; The spanish cup , La liga , Uefa Champions league and estabilished themselves as the best football club in the world. after achieving this exemplary feat he caught the eyes of Media which began spectulating that this player has the potential to set himself as the best player in the world and thats what he really did . FC barcelona again won the Champions league in 2011 and Messi was again the best player of tournament. This was the time when several football legends began titling him as the Best player of the world and also Fanbase of his and Fc Barcelona increased drastically , People began realizing that his game is otherwordly . He also won his 3rd Ballon D'or ( AWARD FOR BEING THE BEST PLAYER OF THE YEAR) which increased his popularity even more. In 2012 he made a world record in scoring the most goals in calendar year after smashing 91 goals in 2012 . He continued his brilliant individual performance in the following years but failed to win UCL in 2013 and 2014 as the team suffered a dip in form but this changed when FC Barcelona bought Luis Suarez and Neymar Jr which formed the most deadly trio with Messi in the history of football . they demolished Real Madrid (THEIR MAIN RIVAL) 4-0 in their home ground and showed the world once again that they are back at the top and won their 5th Champions league also the same year. Messi showed the world his most polished version that year as he took up the role of not only of a goal scorer but of a midfielder too . 2015 was a very fortunate year for Messi as he was once again adjudged as the best player of the year.
As of now (2020) Messi has scored 696 career goals with 488 coming from barcelona and 71 coming from Argentina national team and the rest coming in friendly goals . He as won 32 trophies in his 16 years at Fc Barcelona . He has won 6 Ballon D'ors , 1 FIFA World cup Golden ball , 6 European Golden boots.
2. CAREER AT ARGENTINA
Though Spanish by citizenship Messi chose to play for Argentina , his birthplace. Like in Barcelona He also shone in his national side But unfortunately did not enjoyed that much success due to his team's incompetence . Messi guided his team to Olympic gold in 2008 and was adjudged as the best player of tournament since then and till 2013 Argentina suffered in decline as they experienced management issues . Messi assumed captaincy in 2013 as the team prepared for 2014 World cup .
Under his captaincy He led Argentina to 2014 World cup final but were unfortunately defeated by Germany in the final in a match which was stretched into extra time.
At the ending of the final, Messi was given the Golden Ball as the best player of the tournament. also to being the joint third-highest goalscorer, with four goals and an assist, he created the most chances, completed the most dribbling runs, created the most deliveries into the penalty area and produced the most throughballs in the tournament.3.
